The Middlebury Historical Society is dedicated to collecting, preserving, presenting, and celebrating the history of Middlebury, Connecticut.
We believe that a community is strengthened by an understanding of its unique cultural, political, and social history. As stewards of that history, we aim to foster awareness and appreciation of Middlebury’s past for the benefit of future generations.
Our museum features both permanent and rotating exhibits and houses a growing collection of artifacts, photographs, documents, furniture, and art—reflecting the story of Middlebury from its Native Peoples to the present day.
We support historical research and public education through publications, programs, and displays that highlight the people, places, and events that have shaped our town.
We also partner with local and regional organizations that share our commitment to preserving and promoting historical awareness.
Through these efforts, we encourage scholarship, inspire curiosity, and work to ensure that Middlebury’s heritage remains a vital part of our shared identity.
